Women’s Eights Head of the River Race
On a sunny Saturday in March the women’s squad sent three Eights down to London to compete in the Women’s Head of the River Race, on the 4.25 Mile long Championship course.
The Reading A boat started at position 45 and finished with a time of 19:55.9 at 27th place out of 300, alongside international boats, beating some well established club crews, who they had gone head to head with the previous summer.
The B boat was the second Reading crew to slip into the top 100 at a time of 20:46.2 at 84th place – a great result, as they have climbed up about 40 places in the rankings and with that increased the starting position for the coming year.
The C Boat started at Position 249, put in a strong performance and finished 136th in a time of 21:14.8 for the 6.8 Kilometer long championship course. A very pleasing outcome in the light of the standard of women’s rowing.
