The 2009 awards were held at the new Hilton Hotel on February 19 after the weather postponed the event from January.

First up were Tony Rose and Peter Taylor who shared the Male Veteran of the Year award. They had a very successful 2009 gaining gold medals at the National Veteran Championships and the World Masters held in Vienna. They also won the quad sculls at the Veteran Fours Head.

Second up was our J15 4+ (now J16s) of James Shoreland, Richard Laney, Ryan Seager and Nick Brown who shared the Junior Team of the year award for their achievements in winning gold medals at the National Sculling Head, the National inter-Regional competition  and National Schools Regatta.

During the season this Reading crew also won the prestigious Markwell Memorial Trophy being the first non school or college to win this event in 10 years where they beat Eton, Hampton, St Pauls Emanuel and other top rowing schools. This award was the second time Ryan Seager and Nick Brown had won the award as their J14 2x win at the National Championships of Great Britain in 2008 secured the 2008 award.

The third award for Female Junior Sports Personality of the Year went to Olivia Carnegie-Brown.  Olivia started the year winning gold and bronze medals at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival and followed this with a gold at the Munich Junior Interrnational Regatta and a silver at the Junior World Rowing Championship in France.
