International squad return victorious from Paris!

It’s been a week since the victorious ‘international’ crew have returned home from Paris, and there is still much talk of the weekend tour! Nine ladies (and Nigel) from the RRC Intermediate-social group accompanied the Goring Gap mixed crew, totalling 22 rowers in all. Success at Oxford City Regatta

The Nov/IM3 group under the guidance of Terry O'Sullivan finished off the season on a high, with the Nov 8+ (Mark Williams, Ewen Gillies, George Steedman, Luke Lloyd, Zain Zainal, Anthony Chapman, Roberto Mallo, Sean Simpson and cox Joe Webster) recording their maiden victory and the Nov 4+ missing out only in the final. The IM3 8+ only just got beaten in round 2, by the eventual winners.

RRC’s Olivia Carnegie-Brown, who is currently competing at the Junior Rowing World Championships in Brive-La-Gaillarde, France, has qualified directly for the final with a comprehensive victory in her heat of the coxless four.

With the help of RRC members and having raised the money to purchase an electronic exercise bike for Dave Martin (paralysed in a road accident) we are formally handing it over at the club on Saturday, August 1, at 12:15pm.

New Boats unveiled

Rowers at Reading Rowing Club have some new names to get used to after a fleet of new boats were officially unveiled. A boat naming ceremony took pace at the club on Sunday, March 28, fittingly on the same day as the University Boat Race.
