Getting Involved
RCC welcomes all standards and even if you’ve never been in a boat before, the club can get you started and teach you how. Rowing is a fun sport which has excellent benefits in health and fitness as well as being a great way to make new friends.
The most ambitious beginners have gone on to compete in the club’s top crews in men's and women's events at Henley and have won medals at the National Championships. See our Beginners Guide.
Becoming a member of RRC is easy and if you wish to try rowing before committing to a full season, the club offers temporary membership costing £30 for the first month. Coxing membership costs the £30 joining fee only and associate membership is just £25 for the year.
Safety First
Rowing is a water sport and, while it enables you to build up high levels of fitness, requires you to be reasonably healthy to begin with. You must be able to swim at least 50 metres in light clothing and be able to pass a simple capsize drill. The general idea is to stay in your boat but accidents do happen and the club wants you to be able to enjoy the sport without being at unnecessary risk.
